what's the plating on this fitting, and does it hold up decent in wet or dirty environments?

Dura-Kote plating is what you get on this one, and it's specifically there to fight corrosion. For hose assemblies running in conditions where moisture or grime is a regular thing, that coating gives the carbon steel body a meaningful layer of protection and helps stretch out the service life of the assembly overall.
