got a -24 hose on the bench, is this the right crimp fitting for it or am i off a size

For hose size, it matches a -24 dash hose. This is an Eaton Aeroquip 1A Series permanent crimp fitting with Hose Dash Size listed as -24.

what's the corrosion protection like on this fitting? running equipment outdoors and rust has been a real problem with some of the other brands we've tried

Eaton Aeroquip puts a Dura-Kote plating on these fittings, which is their higher-grade corrosion resistance treatment. It holds up better than standard zinc plating in outdoor and wet conditions. Carbon steel underneath means the base material is solid, and the coating is specifically there to keep surface rust from becoming a real issue over time.
