what's the corrosion resistance like on this fitting? running equipment outdoors and rust has been a real problem with cheaper hardware

Carbon steel fittings like this one usually raise that concern, but Aeroquip put a Dura-Kote plating on it specifically to push back against corrosion. It holds up better than standard plated fittings in outdoor and exposed conditions. That coating is one of the reasons this line gets used in general-purpose hydraulic work where longevity matters.

Application-wise, this Aeroquip fitting's intended for general-purpose, low to medium pressure hydraulic systems. Just keep in mind the H277 or H435 hoses are recommended if you're dealing with potential shock hazards.
