How hard is it to get one of these bulkhead fittings installed, seeing as it doesn't need a jam nut? Seems like that might make things a little easier.

Not needing a jam nut really does simplify the install. You can get a secure connection without having to mess with that extra piece, which speeds things up and can be a lifesaver in tight spots.
