Dura-Kote plating covers the exterior, which is specifically built to fight corrosion over long service life. Carbon steel is the base material, so the plating is doing real work there. For outdoor use across seasons, that combination handles it well, and the adapter is rated down to -65°F on the low end, so cold weather exposure is not a concern.
