does this connector work with nylon tubing, or is it made for something else?

Nylon is exactly what it's built for. The body is molded nylon, so it pairs naturally with compression tube setups. The fitting connects a tube or hose line on one end to a 1/4 inch BSPP male thread on the other, making it a straight adapter for those two connection types.
