pump's rated at 2000 RPM -- does that mean it'll hold up running continuous at that speed or is that more of a peak number?

At 2000 RPM, you're at the top of the rated speed range for this unit. Running right at the ceiling continuously puts more wear on the internals over time than operating a few hundred RPM below it. If your application keeps the pump loaded and spinning near that mark all day, backing it down a bit where your system allows will generally get you better service life out of it.
