pump says it's got 50% less noise than conventional ones, how big a difference does that actually make out on a real production floor?

On a working floor with multiple machines running at once, that kind of noise reduction adds up fast. Conventional piston pumps can be pretty loud under load, and cutting that down by half means operators nearby aren't fighting the same fatigue over a long shift. For installations in metal forming or injection molding where the pump is running hard through high-cycle work, that quieter operation makes a noticeable difference in the day-to-day environment.
