these reusable fittings, do they need any special tools or a mandrel to put together? asking cause we got a crew that does field assembly and simpler is better

No mandrel required and no calibration needed either. Assembly is straightforward enough that field crews can handle it without specialized tooling, which is a big part of why these get used in production environments where downtime matters.
