is this the retaining ring that goes on the inside of the housing, not the shaft? trying to make sure i get the right one before i order

Internal retaining rings seat inside a bore or housing, holding components in place from within rather than clamping around a shaft. If your application calls for a ring that fits into a groove cut into the inside of a cavity, this is the correct type. The 101680-225 is a genuine Vickers by Eaton part, so it will match the original spec for equipment that calls out that part number.
