got a -8 hose im rebuilding. is this the right end for it, and what thread is on the pipe side?

It matches a -8 hose dash size and the pipe end is 0.8125 NPTF, so it’s meant to thread into an NPTF port at that size.

does this fitting need any thread sealant or a mandrel when putting it together, or is it pretty much ready to go as-is?

No sealant, no mandrel, no check valve needed. The assembly process is straightforward right out of the box, which cuts down on prep time and keeps things simple when you're working through a busy maintenance schedule. Just make sure your hose dash size lines up at -8 and your port is NPTF at 13/16 inch and you're set to connect.
