fitting's got Dura-Kote plating on it -- does that actually hold up against rust or is that just marketing talk?

Carbon steel fittings without a solid surface treatment will corrode faster than most folks expect, especially in wet or outdoor environments. The Dura-Kote plating on these is specifically there to fight that. It's not a cosmetic finish. Eaton engineered it into the E Series line to extend service life and keep hose assemblies running longer between replacements. For a -8 JIC female swivel in a demanding application, that coating is doing real work.

Dura-Kote plating on these Eaton fittings gives you superior corrosion resistance, so they're well-suited for hydraulic applications.
