got a turf care machine that needs a low-speed motor with decent torque output, this unit putting out 417 Nm, is that right?

417 Newton metres is the rated torque on this one. For turf care equipment running at low speeds under load, that's a solid number. The spool valve configuration is actually a big part of why this motor can hit that torque figure, so you're getting the performance through the design, not just brute flow.
