flow rate on this valve is listed at 40 liters per minute -- is that gonna hold up running a press or die casting setup without it bogging down?

Forty liters per minute is a solid flow capacity for press and die casting applications. Vickers lists both of those as intended uses for this valve, so it's built with those demands in mind. Running a directional control valve at or near its rated flow in a die casting environment is pretty standard, and the Buna-N seals help hold up against the heat and contamination that comes with that kind of work. As long as your system isn't pushing beyond that 40 LPM mark, you should be in good shape.
