runs on 24 volt DC, that much I get. but is this thing internally rectified or do I need to sort out a separate rectifier somewhere in the circuit?

Already rectified internally, so no external rectifier needed on your end. That's one less thing to wire in or troubleshoot down the road. You can run it straight off a 24V DC supply without adding any extra components between the power source and the coil.
