flow rate on this thing is listed at 700 liters per minute -- is that enough to handle a press application or would it be cutting it close?

For press applications, 700 liters per minute is a solid flow capacity. That puts it well above what most mid-range press circuits demand, and since Vickers lists press work as one of the intended applications for this valve series, you're in good shape running it in that environment. The three- or four-way directional control also gives you the flexibility to match the valve to how your circuit is laid out, which helps when press setups vary from one machine to the next.

If I'm setting this up in a tight space, what's the width I should figure on?

This directional control valve measures 7.5 inches wide. Keep that in mind when planning your installation.
