flow rate on this valve is listed at 40 LPM -- is that enough for a standard press circuit, or would we be pushing it for heavier tonnage applications?

For most press circuits running moderate tonnage, 40 litres per minute is a workable flow rate. Where it gets tight is on larger cylinders with fast cycle requirements, because the valve will be near its upper limit and pressure drop across it starts to matter more. If your press is running slower strokes or smaller bore cylinders, you're well within range. Faster, higher-volume circuits may want a larger valve in the series.
