Flow rate on this one's listed at 227 litres per minute, that enough to handle a mid-size hydraulic circuit without choking down the system?

For most mid-range hydraulic systems, 227 litres per minute gives you solid headroom. This valve is built as an adjustable pressure relief and regulating unit, so it's meant to cap system pressure at whatever maximum you dial it in to, not restrict flow unnecessarily. As long as your circuit demand stays within that flow ceiling, you shouldn't see pressure drop issues from the valve itself.
