flow rate on this valve is listed at 700 liters per minute -- that right? seems high for a two-stage directional control

That figure is accurate for this model. The DG5V-8 series is a larger-frame two-stage directional control valve, and 700 liters per minute reflects the higher-capacity design of the size 8 body. Smaller Vickers DG5V frames top out well below that, so if you're used to working with the -5 or -7 series, the jump in flow capacity can catch folks off guard.
