got a harvester that keeps chewing through solenoid valves and somebody told me poppet-style holds up better in that kind of duty, this the right move?

Poppet construction does tend to hold up better in repetitive, high-demand cycles compared to spool-style valves. The EPV16 Series uses that poppet design and is rated for flows up to 160 L/min, so it's built with that kind of workload in mind. Harvesters are actually one of the listed applications for this valve, so you're not forcing a fit here.
