Flow rate on this one is listed at 40 LPM, that enough for a press application, or is that gonna be cutting it close?

For most press circuits, 40 litres per minute is well within a workable range, especially on single-acting or moderate-cycle setups. The DG4V3S0ALMX1H460 is rated right at that 40 LPM mark, so if your system is running near or above that threshold consistently, you'd want to size up. But for a good portion of press applications, that ceiling holds up just fine.

Will this work okay in a machine tool application, or is it meant for something else?

It's designed for demanding industrial environments, so machine tool applications are definitely suitable. It's also good for presses, primary metal, die casting, marine/offshore setups, test equipment, and even turbine control systems.
