we run a press line that needs solid proportional flow control and I keep hearing about valves with built-in electronics being easier to set up, is that what this one does?

Built-in electronics are exactly what separates this valve from older setups that need a separate amplifier card wired in somewhere else on the panel. The on-board electronics handle the signal conditioning right at the valve, which cuts down on the wiring runs and takes the guesswork out of matching external components.
