been running skid steers for years and always had good luck with piston pumps, does this PVE19 use an aluminum housing or is it one of the heavier steel builds?

Aluminum housing on this one. That keeps the overall weight down on the machine, which matters a lot when you're already working with a tight load spec on a skid steer. You're not giving up anything structural to get that weight savings either. It's a solid build for that kind of application.
