been running injection molding equipment for years and always had noise issues with pumps -- does this one actually run quieter or is that just marketing talk

Reduced operating noise is a real design feature on the PVQ series, not just a label. Running at lower operating pressures is a big part of what keeps things quieter, so if your current setup is loud partly because of pressure-related mechanical stress, this pump addresses that directly.
