what's the actual flow rate on this valve, and how does that square with the 42 gpm max they list?

The rated flow capacity for the EPV10 series tops out at 160 liters per minute, which works out to about 42 US gallons per minute. This particular unit, the EPV10-00D-M-10, is spec'd at 30 liters per minute. So the 42 gpm figure is the ceiling for the series, not what this specific valve is set up to deliver.
