i keep hearin folks talk about “open circuit” pumps, what does that mean on this Vickers PVM series?
Question by: Jean D on Apr 4, 2025, 1:40 PM
In an open circuit hydraulic system, the pump sends flow out to the valves and actuators, and the oil returns back to the reservoir on the return side. The PVM series is an open circuit piston pump, so it fits that style of system layout rather than a closed loop setup.

pump's rated for industrial use but what kinda machines is it actually built for? asking cause we run a mix of metal forming and conveyor equipment and tryna figure out if this fits our setup

Metal forming machines and conveyor lines are both listed applications for this pump, so your setup lines up well. It also covers mining machinery, injection molding, metal cutting equipment, and oil and gas applications. The PVM063 is an open circuit piston pump, which suits the kind of varied industrial load cycling you'd see across that type of mixed operation.

Reckon this pump would hold up okay in a metal cutting shop environment?

Designed for metal cutting equipment applications, this Vickers PVM series pump should provide outstanding performance in that setting.
