Torque-limiting keeps the pump from demanding more power from the drive than the system can handle cleanly. When load pressure spikes, instead of pushing through and stalling or straining the motor, the pump backs off its displacement to stay within a safe torque range. For heavy-cycle work like metal forming or injection molding, that means less heat buildup, less shock to the drivetrain, and a pump that isn't fighting itself every time the load peaks.
