flow rate on this thing goes up to 80 liters per minute -- is that enough for press and die casting work or is it cutting it close?

For press and die casting applications, 80 liters per minute is well within the range this valve was built for. Both of those are listed among its intended applications, so you're not pushing it into territory it wasn't meant for. As long as your system demands fall at or below that flow ceiling, you should be in good shape running it in either environment.
