flow rate on this valve is listed at 300 litres per minute -- is that enough for most industrial press or clamping circuits, or would you typically need something bigger for heavy-duty work?

For the majority of industrial press and clamping setups, 300 litres per minute gives you solid headroom. Most mid-range hydraulic circuits running presses, clamps, or similar equipment don't push anywhere close to that ceiling under normal operating conditions. Where you'd start bumping up against limits is in very high-volume systems cycling multiple large actuators simultaneously. For a single-circuit pressure control application, this valve handles the load without issue.
