flow rate on this thing, is 40 liters per minute enough for a press application or is that gonna be cutting it close?

For most press setups, 40 liters per minute is a reasonable working range, and this valve is actually listed as suitable for press applications. Whether it's enough really comes down to your cylinder size and cycle demands, but the valve itself isn't the limiting factor for typical press circuits running at that kind of flow. It handles three- or four-way directional control, so you've got flexibility there too depending on how your circuit is laid out.
