flow rate on this valve is listed at 80 LPM -- is that enough for a mid-size press circuit or would it be cutting it close?

For most mid-size press circuits, 80 litres per minute is right in the working range. The DG4V-3 series is built for demanding industrial press applications specifically, so that flow rating isn't just a peak spec on paper. As long as your system demand stays within that 80 LPM ceiling, you've got solid directional control to work with. Where folks run into trouble is pushing a valve beyond its rated flow, and that's not a concern here if your circuit is sized properly.
