what all industries is this valve actually built for? got a foundry operation and wondering if it fits what we're doing

Foundry work is right in the wheelhouse for this valve. The application list covers die casting and foundry, machine tools, presses, primary metals, paper, marine and offshore, test equipment, and turbine control. So if you're running a foundry, this one was very much intended for that environment.
