Running this on a refuse hauler and just want to make sure I got the right setup, this is normally closed, right? Meaning it stays shut till the solenoid fires?

Correct. At rest, the valve stays closed and only opens when the solenoid is energized. That normally closed behavior is built into the design, so your circuit stays safe and unpressurized when power is off. On refuse haulers and similar equipment, that kind of fail-safe default matters quite a bit in day-to-day operation.
