Running this on a refuse hauler setup, does 24 volt DC work straight off the truck's electrical system, or do I need some kind of converter in between?

Most refuse haulers run a 24V DC electrical system, so this valve pulls power directly from that without any additional conversion hardware. The solenoid is rated at 24 volts, which lines up with the standard voltage on those larger mobile vehicles. Just make sure your circuit can handle the solenoid draw and you've got a clean, stable supply to the coil.
