Got a harvester sitting idle cause the solenoid valve gave out, this a normally closed unit or does it stay open when there's no power?

Normally closed is exactly what this valve is. When the solenoid loses power, it defaults to the closed position every time. That makes it a solid fit for mobile equipment like harvesters where you want a predictable shutoff if something goes wrong electrically. The valve is part of the SV3-12-C/CM/CR series from Vickers and holds up to 350 bar, so pressure capacity shouldn't be a concern for most harvester circuits.
