Been running one of these coils on a refuse hauler and it's held up real well. Is this the kind of part that's built to run all day without cycling off, or does it need rest periods?

Continuous duty is exactly what this coil is rated for. You can run it hard through a full shift without worrying about thermal cutoff or mandatory rest cycles. That's part of what makes it a solid fit for refuse haulers and harvest equipment where the hydraulics don't get much downtime.

Will this coil fit a standard Vickers J series valve without any modifications?

Designed for Vickers J Series valves by Danfoss/Eaton, this coil should integrate directly, particularly in SICV systems.
