Got a harvester that's been eating through housings faster than I'd like. This a steel body or one of them cast units?

Steel body, through and through. It's a Vickers part built for exactly that kind of hard-use environment, harvesters being one of the listed applications. Cast housings tend to lose the battle with vibration and grime over time, so the steel construction here is a deliberate choice for durability in those conditions.
