Got a refuse hauler that needs a new pressure control valve and I ain't got a lot of room to work with. This the kind of valve that'll fit in a tight spot?

Compact is pretty much the whole point of the RV1-8 series. Vickers built these specifically to take up minimum space without giving up flexibility, so they work well in cramped mobile equipment setups like refuse haulers. The poppet style design keeps the footprint small, and the valve is rated up to 350 bar (5000 psi), so you're not sacrificing pressure capacity to get that smaller size.

Will this handle the hydraulic pressure on my log splitter?

This Vickers pressure control valve can handle pressures up to 350 bar, or about 5000 psi. So, check your system specs to be sure it's within that range.
