Will this directional control valve work alright for a machine tool application?

Flow rate on this one is listed at 80 liters per minute, that enough to handle press or die casting work without starving the circuit?

For most press and die casting setups, 80 liters per minute is right in the workable range. Those applications don't always demand the highest flow in the line, so this valve fits well there. It's also rated for primary metal processing and foundry environments, which tend to push equipment pretty hard, so the flow capacity was spec'd with real industrial demand in mind.
