got a char-lynn unit on the bench, is this seal actually Buna-N or some other rubber

Material-wise, this one is Buna-N, and it’s a lip-style shaft seal sold as a Danfoss and Eaton spare part under the Eaton Char-Lynn brand.

what material is this shaft seal made out of? trying to figure out if it'll hold up with the fluids we're running through our system

Buna-N is the material used for this seal. That's a nitrile rubber compound that handles petroleum-based hydraulic fluids well and holds up under moderate heat and pressure conditions common in hydraulic systems.
