what exactly is this bearing plate for, is it a replacement part or does it come as part of a kit

It's a standalone spare part, sold individually. The bearing plate fits the 76 CCW configuration in the Eaton Char-Lynn line, so if you're rebuilding or swapping out a worn plate on one of those units, this is what you'd be ordering. It comes as a single unit, not bundled with anything else.
