what the heck does a 'shuttle valve' do in hydraulic setups?
Question by: Jerry P on Nov 30, 2025, 8:39 PM
Essentially, a shuttle valve directs flow or pressure from one of two possible sources to a single outlet by switching between them. It ensures that the side with pressure can continue supplying the downstream circuit.

What function does a shuttle valve serve in a hydraulic system?
Question by: Gary S on Jan 1, 2026, 6:38 AM
A shuttle valve automatically switches to the higher pressure source among two and channels it to a single output. It's useful for systems with two circuits feeding a component, as it shifts based on which circuit is pressurized more. It's pretty useful for redundancies or getting backup pressure when needed from a secondary source.

The shuttle valve I'm looking at says it's Eaton and Danfoss - which is it really though?
Question by: Wes H on Aug 31, 2025, 6:26 AM
Both brand names cover this product, but it's classified more as an Eaton shuttle valve since they acquired Danfoss.
