That pin is specific to the balancing plate assembly in the Char-Lynn 2000 Series. The balancing plate sits at the end of the motor and helps maintain pressure distribution across the rotating group. The pin locates and retains the plate in its correct position, so without it seated right, the plate can shift and the motor won't hold pressure the way it should. It's a small part but it carries real responsibility inside that assembly.
